Knowledge Picnic on Sustainability Reporting Final Information

door chuan.jiet.teo@waterbenchmark.org

The final programme is now available for the upcoming EBC Knowledge Picnic on Sustainability Reporting, taking place on 24–25 June 2026 in Hamburg, Germany.

Organised by the EBC Foundation in collaboration with aquabench, and hosted by HAMBURG WASSER, this Knowledge Picnic will bring together professionals from water supply and wastewater utilities to exchange practical experiences on sustainability reporting.

With non-financial reporting requirements becoming increasingly important for the water sector, the event will focus on highly relevant topics such as greenhouse gas emissions accounting, the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), the Voluntary Sustainability Reporting Standard for SMEs (VSME), and the concept of value creation.

Rather than focusing on theory alone, the Knowledge Picnic is designed as a practical and experience-driven platform. Participants will have the opportunity to learn from real utility cases, discuss common challenges, and explore workable approaches for collecting data, reporting meaningful information, and translating sustainability ambitions into daily practice.

The final programme includes contributions from several water organisations. Sessions will cover practical CSRD implementation, ESG KPIs, GHG emissions calculation challenges, voluntary sustainability reporting, and value creation in water utilities.

In addition to the workshop sessions, participants can also join a guided tour and dinner at Wasserkunst Kaltehofe, a historic location linked to the development of modern drinking water treatment in Hamburg. On the second day, the programme will include a site visit to Hamburg WWTP, one of Germany’s largest wastewater treatment plants.

If you or one of your colleagues would still like to participate in the Knowledge Picnic, please feel free to contact us at administrator@waterbenchmark.org. We will be happy to check whether participation can still be arranged.

We look forward to welcoming participants in Hamburg for two days of knowledge exchange, practical discussion, and peer learning on sustainability reporting in the water sector.
